For thousands of years Sicily has been conquered by many different peoples. Today, this island in the middle of the Mediterranean is facing the latest invader - tourism. Hoping that some of these foreigners have come to trade, rather than plunder, Antonietta and Ignazio Lo Cascio have formed a grass-roots Tourist Cooperative which invites visitors to stay in the homes of local families.

 

Sicilian Sojourn gives the viewer an experience of daily life within a Sicilian family and, through the use of music, poetry and lyrical montage, an understanding of the fast-disappearing Sicilian cultural traditions.
